First UK Electric Bikes Powered by LiFePO4 Batteries Launched by PowerSmart

Five months on from the launch of PowerSmart XEB0001 and PowerSmart XEB0002 - Lightweight Electric bikes, PowerSmart is launching two new models based on their forerunner’s successful design: The new models are called PowerSmart XEB0003 and PowerSmart XEB0004.

These are the first LiFePO4 based electric bikes from a UK producer and provide customers with the most advanced power specification available. At £559 the bikes are very competitively priced. LiFePO4 based Electric Bikes have until now been associated with European models that carry a price tags of £1,000 or more.

The PowerSmart XEB0003 and PowerSmart XEB0004 bikes are both full-sized 26-inch wheel electric bikes that thanks to very lightweight 2.4kg Li-ion batteries weigh only 23kg in total.

Both bikes are hybrids offering “pedal assist” as well as “twist and go” throttle power modes. Six Shimano gears are included for users wanting to maximize their cycling contribution.

The PowerSmart XEB0003 has an aluminum step-over frame with adjustable handlebar and seat – this type of frame has proved very popular with typical electric bike users in the more mature age bracket. PowerSmart XEB0004 has the same feature and power specifications as PowerSmart XEB0003, but is based on an aluminum alloy crossbar frame.

“Our initiative bringing LiFePO4 based electric bikes to market is a response to customers, who have strong preferences for lightweight models, and who like to be confident of a sufficient distance range, and not have to worry about running out of power on journeys that would more normally be made by car.”

PowerSmart XEB0003 and PowerSmart XEB0004 are the first of PowerSmart models to use LiFePO4 Batteries. The Li-ion batteries are the result of the combined work of PowerSmart’s design teams based in the UK and China.

Both the PowerSmart XEB0003 and PowerSmart XEB0004 with the new LiFePO4 batteries have a power capacity 40% greater than those Lithium Polymer models, so a power assisted range of 30-35miles per charge represents a conservative estimate of anticipated performance – a strong accolade for such lightweight models.

PowerSmart XEB0003 and PowerSmart XEB0004 have been aggressively priced to compete with conventionally powered brands, as PowerSmart are actively seeking new dealers in order to expand their distribution network across UK, Ireland, Germany, USA and Australia.

The first shipments of PowerSmart XEB0003 and PowerSmart XEB0004 to UK customers have started.
